
MANILA (UPDATED)— State weather bureau PAGASA raised tropical cyclone wind signal no. 1 over parts of the Philippines as the country braces for severe tropical storm Uwan (international name: Fung-Wong).
The tropical cyclone which remained outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Friday afternoon, was last located 1,175 kilometers east of Eastern Visayas.
It was packing maximum sustained winds of 110 kilometers per hour near the center, with gusts of up to 135 kph. It is moving westward at 25 kph.
