Diary Two: Sleepless

Diary Two: Sleepless

Dear Diary:

This morning began in a quiet haze. At 7 AM, the world still felt half-asleep—and so did I. With no sleep to carry me through the dawn, my mind drifted between wakefulness and exhaustion. I tried to keep my eyes open, afraid that a single blink might pull me under or make me miss the start of class.

Our lesson for the day was the Data Encryption Standard. At first glance, it felt heavy and strange, like deciphering a language written in symbols my tired brain couldn’t grasp. My exhaustion pressed on me, blurring the edges of every concept.

But then Sir Reynaldo began to speak. His explanations had a calm rhythm, steady and patient, as if he were guiding us through a path he already walked many times. Little by little, the confusion loosened. What once felt distant and overwhelming slowly unfolded into something clear—almost fascinating.

Somewhere between his words and the quiet hum of the classroom, my sleepiness slipped away without me noticing. I found myself leaning forward, listening, understanding. The more the topic revealed itself, the more alive I felt.

It’s strange how comprehension can awaken you more deeply than any cup of coffee ever could.

Today taught me that even the most complex ideas can feel light when explained with clarity and passion. Learning isn’t always about being fully rested — it’s about being open to understanding. And sometimes, the right teacher can turn confusion into curiosity, and curiosity into something that feels a lot like excitement.

Love,

Aristotle
